The IPKSA event I attended back in February at Streedagh Beach, Co. Sligo. It was one of the better days for February also coming out of the long cold Winter too! Streedagh is a beautiful beach but is also masked in history! On their way to invade England three ships from the Spanish Armada fleet were caught up in a deadly storm off the North-West coast. They came in closer to the coast to take shelter from it but from not knowing the waters they couldn't tell where it was dangerous to go. As a result one ship was grounded and the others were thrown up onto the rocks and broken up.There was jewels and gold on board of the ship. The beach is now protected because people would come with metal detectors etc to try and dig up whatever treasure they could find. Every now and then when the tides shift the sands you can see some of the remains of the ships sticking out of the strand.
